Heritage Days at The House of the Seven Gables

The House of the Seven Gables will be offering special family programming during Salem Heritage Days from August 1-10. Come by the spectacular house built by one of Salem’s wealthiest ship-owners, and made famous by Nathaniel Hawthorne and step back into Salem’s maritime history!

Families who arrive at the House of... the Seven Gables during Salem Heritage Days can pick up a Navigation Packet at the visitor center, which includes ship’s log and compass, and begin their voyage of discovery navigating around the museum grounds! The Navigation Packet is available all day during Heritage Days and is included as part of the general admission price.

Also, from 12-2 each day during Heritage Days, the House of the Seven Gables will be offering select hands-on activities throughout the site for families. Each day, experience several different unique activities as you step back into early New England and learn how to tie Nautical Knots, play Colonial Toys and Games, hone your skill with a quill pen as you practice 18th century writing, learn the ways of the hearth with a 17th century food ways demonstration, and enjoy the timeless tales of Salem’s famous author Nathaniel Hawthorne as told by storytellers!

Special programming each day will vary. Check back for a complete listing of daily events.
