Salem Looking Into Relocating Horace Mann Laboratory School

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Friday, Aug. 30, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It should be another beautiful day in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be partly sunny, with a high near 77. Tonight should be mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. (sunrise, 6:06 a.m.; high tide, 7:15 a.m.; low tide, 1:07 p.m.; sunset, 7:20 a.m.)

2. According to a press release issued Wednesday afternoon, Salem Public Schools and Salem State University have begun the process of studying the feasibility and procedure for potentially relocating the Horace Mann Laboratory School from its current location at 33 Loring Ave. to the university’s South Campus.

4. In case you didn't hear, we published a post Thursday morning announcing that the New England Aquarium in Boston would be free to Salem residents this summer. That is nearly a $100 value for most families! Click Here for all the details.

5. Today in History: On Aug. 30, 1967, Thurgood Marshall was confirmed as the first African-American Justice of the Supreme Court.
