Salem Residents Get Free Admission to New England Aquarium

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your day in Salem.

Today is Thursday, Aug. 29, and here are the five things you need to know:

1. It will feel a bit chillier out there today. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect it to be cloudy, with a high near 69. Tonight should be mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. (sunrise, 6:05 a.m.; high tide, 6:17 a.m.; low tide, 12:11 p.m.; sunset, 7:22 p.m.)

2. If you're looking for something fun to do with your family this fall, consider a trip to the New England Aquarium in Boston. Thanks to a grant from the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust, all Salem residents will be admitted into the New England Aquarium for free during the month of September. That is nearly a $100 value for most families. Click Here for all the details.

3. Looking to stock up on something fresh? The Salem Farmers' Market will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. at Derby Square. Click Here to check out a photo gallery featuring shots from a market earlier this summer.

4. In case you didn't see it yesterday, Click Here to check out the fall street sweeping schedule we posted Wednesday morning. Save yourself the headache of dealing with a ticket or tow and make sure to move your vehicle when it's time to clean in your neck of the woods.

5. Today in History: On Aug. 29, 1966, The Beatles played their last concert before paying fans at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
