Community Charter School to Open Doors [VIDEO]

The Salem Community Charter School will welcome new students on Thursday.

The Salem Community Charter School will welcome 50 new students to their temporary space in the on Thursday.

With ages ranging between 16 and 23, the school aims to provide a welcoming and flexible environment for students who are committed to completing their high school education despite any previous challenges met in more traditional school systems. 

Principal Jess Yurwitz and staff have been tirelessly setting up the transient classrooms, filling them with requested bean bags for 'town' meetings and creative wall hangings.

The school has raised $250,000 in startup and grant money, and plans to move into a new space overlooking Essex Street once construction finishes in January.
