Man Who Robbed PetSmart, Burned Car Held on $1 Million Cash Bail

Raymond Wallace was arrested early Thursday after police said he robbed PetSmart on Traders Way.

A representative from the said Raymond Wallace pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from his before Judge Sabita Singh. Wallace returns to court April 22 for a probable cause hearing.

Wallace, 33, of 1 Courageous Ct. was arrested at his home at gunpoint early Thursday after police said he entered in a mask and pointed a gun at a PetSmart employee before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of cash at approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Police initially believed Wallace was in a blue PT Cruiser which they found, soon after, burned out on Technology Way. Police staked out as his home and received a parole warrant for his arrest. A battering ram, which is "a homemade concrete tube used to batter doors," a sledge hammer, bolt cutters and gas cans were found by Wallace's car, said. Wallace was wearing a bullet proof vest when he arrived and was in possession of two guns.

Wallace was arrested on a warrant. Police said they were seeking charges including one count of masked armed robbery, two counts of carrying firearms without being licensed, two counts of possessing firearms with altered serial numbers, unlawful possession of ammunition, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, use of body armor in committing the robbery and use of a firearm during a felony.

Police said they believe there is a "strong possibility" Wallace was the same man who . Area departments are still investigating to see if Wallace has connections to other area robberies.

Wallace has already served time for a string of robberies 10 years ago, which culminated with a 2001 arrest after he was caught by authorities mid-robbery in Waltham.

According to the District Attorney's Officer, Wallace was represented by Christopher Norris from the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS). Essex Assistant District Attorney A.J. Camelio represented the Commonwealth.
