Salem Police Nab Suspected Vehicle Burglar After Chase

A Roslindale man believed to have broken into several vehicles in Salem early Thursday morning was arrested on drug charges after a brief foot chase, police said.

At 3:18 a.m., a Sable Road West resident called police after spotting a man looking into parked vehicles with a flashlight, Lt. Mary Butler said.  


After a brief foot chase through the area, Randolph Grosvenor Jr., 40, of 868 Canterbury St., Roslindale, was stopped by police and placed under arrest.

Grosvenor Jr. was arrested on charges of breaking and entering during the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, possessing a class A substance (heroin), possessing burglarious tools (screwdriver), attempting to commit a crime, possessing a large knife, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, receiving stolen property valued above $250, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, providing a false name to police, and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
