A few points.
Have you looked at the Shanty building? Do you think they should be paying the same amount per sq ft as Adriatic, Passage, TITS? Really? Shanty is a good description. It's a shack not suitable for year round occupancy. The price they're paying is probably about right.
Whether or not the city should be in the landlord business at all seems like a valid question. What would you do with the Artist's Row land otherwise? There are some sticky legal (trust) issues there.
How long has there been live music there? As long as I can remember. I'd hazard a guess that your dwelling doesn't meet the current zoning and building code standards. Have you not heard of grandfathering?
How quiet do you expect downtown to be? Why would you choose to live there, if you're looking for a pastoral setting?

Sorry, but I have to agree. You basically wouldn't even know that this is a local election year reading Patch. But hey, if you want to know who is having an open house, who sold their house, and who is trying to sell their house, Patch is your thing, if you can't figure out Zillow, or Redfin, or Coldwell Banker, or Trulia, which all include links to the actual MLS data.
At least the police log is interesting.

ReplyDidn't city council tie their salaries to that of the mayor? Aren't they also considering whether or not to vote themselves a raise?
My guess is that no action is taken here, and salary remains unchanged.
