ReplyI don't understand the feeling city jobs should go to city residents. We've been through that years ago when the school board had an (un-written?) requirement that teachers be city residents. That seemed to have led to money in envelopes under the table to school board members. It was also seen as a way of getting another voter pool for the incumbents. Why shouldn't we want just the best qualified person, regardless of where they live?

ReplyI'm all for what you say, but in 2008 "we" thought Obama was going to change Washington but he has done virtually nothing to make basic changes. He opted out of accepting public financing despite promising to change that. And something like more than half of his campaign contributions came from Wall St and he's taken very good care of them since he was elected. Most of your campaign funding has come from outside MA - why should we expect you to be any different than Obama?
