ReplyI think skateboarders should be allowed to ride as long as they're properly equipped (helmet minimum)
I think the current ordinance is way out of order. -

Replywait, it's illegal to use a skateboard in Salem for transportation at ALL?
wow, that's ridiculous. I was just thinking about getting a longboard to ride to work in the morning along the bike path on Bridge St...
What about inline skates or scooters? surely those should fall under the same ordinance -

I don't think it says 'screw the people that made salem'... The change in industry did that. There aren't any plants anymore around here to be a blue-collar worker like there used to. There's no tanneries, no shoe factories... people work in service/retail or they work in offices around here. We took all those good paying blue-collar worker jobs and shipped them overseas. That leaves people without a middle ground for work. The previously 'unskilled laborer' who could find work at an auto parts factory, docks, tannery or factory is now reduced to working the counter at Wendy's and the checkout line at Market Basket.
It's why this country is failing.

The Buy America thing doesn't work well here because there IS no rail industry in here... Motive Power is pretty much it for passenger locomotives and from my understanding they're way backlogged and can't keep up with demand and as such are able to overcharge for their locomotives.
Buy America works when there's an industry to support it, but right now it's just allowing for an MP monopoly.

I'm extremely pleased with this. I hope it can be policed better. I believe it was shut down before because people were 'soaping it'?
it certainly makes that area much nicer when it's working right. It looks a million times cleaner when it's pumping than when it's not
