ReplyHow on earth is this practical to 'enforce', are northside carting expected to make a note of every property that does or doesn't leave out recycling each week? or will there be a recycling 'coordinator' riding shotgun on every recycling truck?

ReplyFirst 59 Memorial, now 51 Memorial. Are they trying to sell before Spectra announce the route of the new gas pipeline under Collins Cove and through one of their backyards?

I wonder that every weekend, I haven't seen anyone doing enforcement in our neighbourhood since Bill Legault quit. Bill would walk all the Essex/Derby side streets between downtown and Webb Street handing out tickets.

ReplyWhile I think this article is great, and may have prompted the latest email from the City (Reminder: Please shovel your sidewalks.), how should you email uncleared sidewalk complaints to the Inspectional services Dept? email the Director, Thomas J. St. Pierre, tstpierre@salem.com ?

Ditto on the difference between the same road in Peabody and in Salem, and one City being 'directly on the coast' doesn't explain the stark difference on the 'border' with Peabody. It's normal for side streets to suck the day after a storm, but not one of the major roads in and out of the City.
Hopefully the City noticed and gets some advice from neighbouring towns. I expect that a lot of the reason for the poor response is that Salem is currently without a DPW Director, the last guy retired in November and the new guy starts Feb 19th.

The ploughing in Salem has been atrocious even on the main roads, 114 is a mess in Salem and then you reach the Peabody line and it's totally clear.

"Flint Street needs to be one way and or no parking on the street."
I think that every time I drive down Flint. Some very well connected people must live on that end of Flint St for it not to be a one-way street, or at the very least no parking either side. There's no way anyone from the City could drive down there and think it's safe the way it is right now.

ReplyDoes anyone know who we can email at the City to complain about ice/snow covered sidewalks? The city's 'snow brochure' doesn't say who is doing the fining/enforcement.

Fantastic photos. Would it possible to provide links to higher resolution versions for personal use? I'd love to be able to enlarge and frame one that has my house in it. Thanks
