Salem Installs Vehicle Charging Stations

Eight electric car charging stations were recently installed in two Salem garages.

The following press release was issued by Jason Silva, Chief Administrative Aide to the Office of Mayor Kimberley Driscoll's: The City of Salem has just installed eight electric vehicle charging stations in the Museum Place and South Harbor garages. These charging stations will fully charge an electric vehicle in four to six hours.  As a Massachusetts Green Community, the City of Salem is committed to sustainable practices and infrastructure that promote and attract environmentally friendly technology and innovation. Placing chargers near where people live and work is considered an important part of reducing the “range anxiety” that could otherwise slow the adoption of electric vehicles. It's funny how we are a green community, but Mayor Driscoll got a variance from the conservation committee to build closer to the North RIver Canal. She got it changed from 200 ft to 100 ft so the developers of Salem Suede and Salem Oil and Grease could add more density to their projects.
