Council to Consider $45M Downtown Project

The Salem News is reporting that a City Council subcommittee voted Thursday night to declare a downtown lot surplus so that it can be sold.

A City Council subcommittee decision Thursday night has set the stage for a full council discussion regarding a Somerville developer's plan to construct a $45 million development in downtown Salem, the Salem News is reporting. The company, RCG, is hoping to building a five-to-six story building on the block surrounded by Washington and Dodge streets with space for retail, offices, housing and a hotel. At Thursday's meeting, subcommittee members voted to declare the lot a surplus, which means the property can now be sold if City Council members give the project a green light, according to the Salem News article. City Council members are expected to discuss the issue at their next meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 28.  What do you think …

$45M Downtown Salem Project in the Works

The Salem News is reporting that Somerville developer is planning on building a $45 million mixed-use development right in the heart of downtown Salem.

A Somerville developer is reportedly making plans to construct a $45 million development in downtown Salem, the Salem News is reporting. The company, RCG, is hoping to building a five-to-six story building on the block surrounded by Washington and Dodge streets with space for retail, offices, housing and a hotel, according to the Salem News article. Mayor Kim Driscoll is expected to address the project at tonight's City Council meeting at City Hall on Washington Street. What do you think of the proposal?
