Salem Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects

A pair of Salem men are facing charges stemming from an alleged armed robbery on Harbor Street Wednesday night.

Salem police officers arrested two local men Wednesday night and charged them with robbing another man at knifepoint. Police identified their suspects as John Diaz, 20, of 11 Harbor St., Salem, and Eric Rentas, 25, of 3 Roslyn Ct., Salem. Both are now facing charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) and assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), police said.  Shortly before 10 p.m., police responded to a reported armed robbery on Harbor Street. A short while later, officers located Diaz and Rentas and placed them under arrest in connection with the crime, according to police. Lt. Marty Butler said the male victim was reportedly robbed of $80 cash. Diaz and Rentas are expected to be arraigned in Salem …

Salem Police Investigating Armed Robbery at GameZone

Local detectives are investigating the city's fourth armed robbery in as many weeks.

Salem detectives are investigating whether the man who robbed GameZone at knifepoint Saturday night is the same man who held up Georgia's Pizza last week. At 7:53 p.m., police responded to the Essex Street video game store after receiving word that a masked man had just shown an employee a knife, demanded cash, and made away with an undisclosed amount of money. Although police were able to recover an image of the suspect from one of the store's surveillance cameras, Lt. Mary Butler admitted it was just of a "dark figure" and didn't reveal much. The store employee described the suspect as being a white male between the ages of 20 and 35 and the robber was reportedly wearing a black ski mask, sunglasses, a dark coat, dark jeans and a gray …
