7-Eleven Armed Robber Linked to Other North Shore Holdups

Police say two men arrested in recent days are suspects in similar armed robberies in Peabody, Salem, Beverly and Danvers.

Police have arrested a second man now in connection to the armed robbery Sunday night at Town Variety in Peabody and say he is the main suspect in the Nov. 16 robbery at a 7-Eleven in Salem. Dennis M. Porter, 43, of 25 Greatwoods Road, Lynn, was taken into custody without incident at Pine Grove Estates on Route 1 shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday on a warrant for a probation violation and a charge of armed robbery. Glenn Roderick, 41, of 18 Elm St. #2, Peabody, was arrested on a warrant for armed robbery Monday afternoon. Peabody police spokesman Detective Michael Crane said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon that Porter is also a suspect in similar robberies in Beverly and Danvers, and those incidents remain under investigation…

UPDATED: Salem Detectives Eyeing Peabody Armed Robbery Suspect

Local detectives are investigating the possibility that the key suspect in an armed robbery in Peabody was the same man who held up a 7-Eleven in Salem last week.

A man arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a recent armed robbery at Town Variety in Peabody may help Salem detectives nail down who robbed a 7-Eleven in Salem last week. The description of the suspect in Sunday's robbery in Peabody - a white male in his 40s,  who was dressed in a dark plaid green jacket, black winter hat and jeans - matches exactly this surveillance image taken during the armed robbery in Salem.  Salem Police Capt. Thomas Griffin said local detectives Brian St. Pierre and Dennis Gaudet have been working closely with Peabody police since early Monday morning and are "taking a very close look" at whether the two robberies are connected. I hope he's caught to because I believe that anyone brazen enough to rob a store in possession of a gun and that is now even more desperate "now that they may have caught his driver." He may randomly find an unwilling driver by "carjacking" and may end up using the gun if backed into a corner like a cornered animal. "I hope they find him real quick for everyone's sake."   more ›
