North Shore Food Buzz: Sad News If You Love Pierogi, Beverly's Newest Bar and More

A round up of North Shore restaurant and food news.

When you're looking for a night out and a break from cooking, you might want to know what's new not just where you live, but in other nearby North Shore communities. Here's our round up of the latest food news in the area: Sad news for fans of pierogi and Gypsy pancakes: Cafe Polonia will be closing its doors soon. Having just moved to Salem and only eaten there twice, I know I'll miss the Polish and Eastern European restaurant. If you've never been, I recommend you go before it's gone for good. I was especially impressed with the beet soup. Self-serve frozen yogurt has come to downtown Danvers. You pick your own flavors and toppings at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt. Orange Leaf Giving Away Free Frozen Yogurt Thursday

In an effort to raise funds for Boston Children's Hospital, Salem's Orange Leaf will be giving away a free 8 z. cup to the first 200 customers on Thursday, Sept. 27.

The following information is courtesy of Orange Leaf. In celebration of opening its 200th store, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is encouraging customers to make monetary donations to Boston Children’s Hospital and offering a free 8 oz. cup of froyo to the first 200 customers at the Lafayette Street shop tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 27. The event kicks off four weeks of fundraising at all Boston-area Orange Leaf stores for Boston Children’s Hospital of which Orange Leaf will help contribute funds collected with a goal of raising $25,000. All donations collected will be directed toward the Children’s Fund, which supports the hospital’s areas of greatest need.  The shop opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday so make sure you're one of the first 200 and you'll …
