Better yet; go to Trader Joe's, or even Hannaford. Trader Joe's prices comparable groceries and all about 15-20% lower than Market Basket and lines are nowhere as bad as people report them to be. I'd agree with pricing studies that Hannaford is about 5% higher in price, but they do have a more upscale selection and lines are nowhere as long as MB.   more ›

Man Beaten During Road Rage Incident Outside Salem Market Basket

A local man was reportedly beaten outside of the Salem Market Basket Sunday afternoon.

A Salem man was reportedly beaten in front of his wife and baby Sunday afternoon following an alleged road rage incident in the Market Basket parking lot. At 4:15 p.m., a man called the Salem Police Department to report that he had just returned home from the Highland Avenue market and wanted to report being beaten by four other men. I may not live in the area, but the four men who had jumped the one man, those four if they've been caught 10-25 years jail, but knowing the judicial system and how liberal it is in America, most likely the suspects will get away with murder and the beaten down man, will not have true justice carried out on his behalf.   more ›

'Lucky Day' in Lynn Has Unlucky Ending at Salem Market Basket

Salem Police say one man's luck was running short Sunday evening when he stopped in for some shopping at the Salem Market Basket.

One man's lucky day soured Sunday at Market Basket when police said he discovered the $100 bill he used was possibly counterfeit. At 6:31 p.m. Sunday, police said they responded to Market Basket on Highland Avenue for a call about a counterfeit bill. The man "found what he thought was a $100 bill on the streets of Lynn...Thinking it was his lucky day he went to DeMoulas and did some grocery shopping," police said. When he went to pay for his groceries, he presented the clerk with the bill, which was checked and believed to be counterfeit. The store manager told police he knows the man is a regular customer "and he notified police to file a report and retrieve the bill."
