Lifebridge Thrift Store Eager To Re-Open at New Location

Managing the Lifebridge Thrift Store to Help the Homeless

Ann Richardson has managed the Lifebridge Thrift Store for six years. In that time she’s worked with volunteers tirelessly to improve the lives of the homeless. Richardson is one of only two paid employees at the store, along with Patrice Khouri. She relies on people like her sister Kathleen McMath, Judy Dolan and Elena Lazzaro to accomplish the many tasks required to run the operation. The store, which is moving to 47 Canal Street, will re-open April 2. Richardson said that the store is a fixture of Salem. “We are very Salem community-based because we serve the people of Salem,” she said. “The store is a great asset. One hundred per cent of the proceeds go toward helping Lifebridge homeless.” Lifebridge is a Salem-based shelter …

The building was sold by Salem Mission Inc. to the Gateways of Peace to the Nations Apostolic Ministries on Wednesday.

The building was sold by Salem Mission Inc. to Gateways of Peace to the Nations Apostolic Ministries on Wed., Feb. 29, according to the South Essex District Registry of Deeds. ZBA Rejects Lifebridge Expansion Plans

Endicott Street neighbors win battle to keep former Salem Mission from adding 22 residences to its campus.

The proposal by Lifebridge, the former Salem Mission, to add 22 residences for once homeless people to its campus at 56 Margin St. died Wednesday night without winning a single vote from the Zoning Board of Appeals. The board opposed the Lifebridge plan on two primary issues – the lack of additional parking and the failure of Lifebridge officials to meet with the neighbors to try to work out their differences. The vote was no surprise to Lifebridge. Its attorney George Atkins said, “The handwriting was on the wall.” It took just one vote against the proposal to kill it because there were only four members of the ZBA present for last night's public hearing. Former vice chair Elizabeth Debski resigned earlier from the board, which left the …
