Salem Residents Step Up to Replace Stolen Christmas Gifts
A Salem woman who reported that a package of donated gifts had been stolen from outside her door Thursday afternoon is now looking forward to a Christmas miracle.
Thanks to some local residents who are embracing the true spirit of the holidays, a young Salem boy who would have otherwise been cheated out of gifts this year will wake up to a miracle on Christmas morning. As we reported last week, a holiday Grinch struck twice in Salem Thursday - first police learned that a four-foot Christmas tree went missing on Pleasant Street and then they were notified that a box of Globe Santa presents left in the common area of a Ward Street apartment building had been stolen. The gifts that mysteriously went missing from the box, a local woman told the Boston Globe, were Christmas presents for her four-year-old son.
