Coven
281 Essex St, Salem, MA 01970

Coven (of Salem) was named after the witches' word "to gather." This unique downtown Salem cafe--complete with aMore cereal bar--provides a fun and relaxing atmosphere to do just that--gather.

Coven's menu is both fresh and homemade, including artisan-made sandwiches and specialty salads, savories like bourbon turkey meatloaf and macaroni and cheese and handmade desserts such as the mega-popular red-velvet cupcake. Brunch and breakfast items are available seven days a week. (Visit Coven's Facebook page to keep up with daily specials.)

Coven is family-friendly. Couches and tables are available for reading or board-game playing while enjoying Raos coffee, beer or wine. Many "throwback" items are on display, such as a 1980s Smurf collection and vinyl records.

Take out and catering are available. Coven is also a full-service market, carrying well-known organic groceries and locally sourced items such as vegetables, cheeses, milk and eggs.
