The Salem Police responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday, May 16 5:18 p.m. — Threats were reported on Pope Street. A woman said a fellow tenant keeps harassing her by banging on her door and approaching her in the hallway. The woman said the person has an issue with her sister "and is trying to get back at her sister by going through her." 5:20 p.m. — Two possibly intoxicated men were reported at Washington and Lynde streets. Police said the people were sent on their way. 6:04 p.m. — Police were called to North and Mason streets to check on a woman in the roadway. Fight Starts Over Drink at Bangkok Paradise

Police said there were no arrests, but a man was taken into protective custody after the incident.

Police said a physical fight started after a man allegedly tried to walk out of Bangkok Paradise with a drink Wednesday night. Police said they responded after receiving a call about a large fight in a parking lot at Essex and Sewall streets at 11:12 p.m. Upon arrival, officers said they spoke with a Bangkok Paradise employee. He told police a customer attempted to walk out of the restaurant with a drink. The employee said he attempted to stop the man and a dispute started. The argument became physical in the parking lot, the employee told police. Police said the customer refused medical attention for a black eye. Police said a man reported there was a tiny dent with a chip of paint missing on his rear driver's side door. 5:03 p.m. — Police received a call someone used a stolen credit card to purchase a laptop at Wal-Mart. 5:17 p.m. — People loitering in front of a store on Boston Street were reported. 5:24 p.m. — Wires down on North Street were reported. Area fire departments, harbormasters and state agencies spent Wednesday at a drill designed to train emergency responders how to contain potential petroleum based spills that could threaten our shorelines.

It might be something you never think about, but with so much shoreline on the North Shore, the risk of an oil spill is a very real threat — one our local communities don't take lightly. Salem Patch joined Salem Fire and emergency responders from neighboring cities, towns and the state Wednesday find out how local communities would react if oil, diesel or other petroleum based products were released into our local waters. Alleged Drunk Driver Crashes Into Clipper Ship Inn

Police arrest Salem woman who told them someone else took her car and hit the motel.

Police said a woman drove into a unit at the Clipper Ship Inn early Wednesday morning and then told police someone else had been behind the wheel. Police arrested Sandra Picariello, 48, of 40 Bridge St. (the motel address), on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor after they responded to the building at 2:33 a.m. When they arrived, officers said they spoke to the caller, a representative from the Clipper Ship, who said Picariello, a resident of one of the units, "drove her motor vehicle into the front door to units 5-8." The woman also reported Picariello had "called her and related that someone hit the building with her motor vehicle and then parked it." Peabody Man Takes Salem Officer to Floor During Arrest

Police said the incident occurred in the early morning hours Saturday.

Police say a Peabody man took a Salem officer to the floor while resisting arrest in the early hours Saturday morning. Joseph Taylor Lewis, 23, of 35 Lynn St. in Peabody, was arrested on charges of malicious destruction of property over $250 and resisting arrest after police responded to 260 Washington St. on a report of a fight at 2:45 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived in the lobby of the building, police said they spoke with a woman who said she witnessed a man "yelling and screaming that someone is gonna get their [expletive] kicked — he was punching the walls, kicking and he punched the window and smashed it," police said.
