My two children attended the Phoenix School many years ago. As a teacher in Salem's public schools today, I try to incorporate many of the ideas about children's development and education that underpin the Phoenix School -- student responsibility, relating to and interacting with the real world, and enriching kids learning with travel to unique places in the country and the world. I can attest to the study skills which my children developed and refined from their Phoenix years, and am happy to relate that my children today trace much of their academic success to foundation they received at the Phoenix. Keep up the great work Betsy and Barbara, and Phoenix team!

Our son is in his second year at the Phoenix School and is loving it. The first changes we saw in him were an increase in his confidence level, organizational skills, leadership abilities, and thoughtfulness. He is aware of the world around him and feels invested in the future of communities near and far. Phoenix has introduced him to different charities, community organizations, schools and cultures around the world. We feel blessed to have such a worldly learner who feels a responsibility to give back to his school and community. The teachers dedicate their time, share their passion, and commit themselves to the school. Phoenix is really more than a school but a way of life. We are fortunate to be part of it. Thank you, Phoenix!

I have a son who has been at the Phoenix school for three years and is excited about entering fourth grade next year. I will never forget our first year at the Phoenix school. After one month my son displayed confidence, joy and a curiosity about everything. He became eager, determined and started talking (yes talking!) about his day with such enthusiasm. It is a thrill to watch your child thrive and blossom into his or her true authentic self. Phoenix graduates are confident, curious, resourceful, caring, independent and thoughtful thinkers who have a passion for learning. I can't think of a greater legacy for our children. Also, as a working parent I am relieved to be guided by the experts, our teachers who have over 30+ years experience and multiple degrees bring a world of experience and originality to the children and the curriculum. The teachers are able to really get to know each child and individual learning styles. Finally, the community of parents, grand parents, great grandparents, friends, and teachers is amazing. I look forward to five more years of learning and growing with the Phoenix family. Thank you!

I have two children at The Phoenix School. We have been a Phoenix family for 6 years and we are so appreciative for our kids education and who they are becoming. The Phoenix School develops terrific, thoughtful people. The kids are curious about the world around them and they believe that kids and adults can work together to find solutions- whether it be to a math problem or what kind of fuel will power our cars when they are grown up. Phoenix kids ask questions and participate in solutions. This is a "real world school" that is helping to raise our next generation of caring, thoughtful leaders. Bravo Phoenix!

My son is in his first year in Pre-K at The Phoenix School. (2010-2011)
This school is amazing. All the children learn together with the older kids partnering up with the younger ones. My son has blossomed socially and academically in his first year. He is confident and enjoys going to school every day. (well most days :))
One thing that really took us by surprise was how warm and friendly all the families are. It is a great community and you never feel like a stranger.
The other thing that we are really happy about is the community outreach, it seems there is always something going on, puppet shows are performed by the older students to teach about disabilities, participation in the Green Energy Fair, fundraising for local organizations, free enrichment programs for all, the list goes on and on.
Stop in and take a tour, one of the older students will take you on it and you will be amazed. : )
