Dedicated to cultivating the minds of  youngsters from kindergarten through fifth grade, the Bates Elementary School faculty works to implement the school's slogan in the classroom: "Guiding us beyond our creative horizons."  The school, located adjacent to Greenlawn Cemetary on Liberty Hill Avenue, is headed by Principal Thomas LaValley.

In addition to classes, Bates Elementary students have the opportunity to enjoy a number of enrichment programs which include time with an artist-in-residence, programs focusing on music, art and literacy, as well as basketball. Self-esteem building programs also are integrated into the educational lineup at Bates.  Parents are welcomed to participate at Bates within the PTO and in programs and classes on parenting offered by the school.

For Kids Only, a private after-school care program, is operated in the Bates Elementary School facility.
