Run/Walk for Healing Abuse Working for Change Sunday in Salem

The Run/Walk for Healing Abuse Working for Change will take place this Sunday at the Salem Common.

The Run/Walk for HAWC will take place rain or shine this Sunday, May 4, starting and ending at The Salem Common.

The Run/Walk for HAWC is a five mile flat route through historic Salem aimed at raising funds and awareness for Healing Abuse Working for Change.

The run sets off at 9 a.m. and the walk steps off at 12 p.m.

This is the third year the organization will host a run and there will be cash awards for the top female and male runners in addition to trophies presented to the top runners in each age group. There will also be music, food and children’s activities.

The Run/Walk for HAWC 2014 honorary Chairperson is Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The purpose of HAWC is to create social change by taking action against personal and societal patterns of violence and oppression. HAWC provides services and support to victims of domestic violence residing in 23 cities and towns on Massachusetts' North Shore in order that they may make informed, independent decisions about their futures.
