Pitch In at 'Clean Salem Green Salem' This Weekend

Consider taking the time to volunteer this Saturday in Salem.

The following information was recently posted to the city's website:

The Salem Beautification Committee and Salem Recycles have once again partnered to expand the City's Clean Sweeps Day event to incorporate additional 'green' initiatives and celebrate Earth Day.

At 8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, cleanup activities begin with school and neighborhoods targeting areas throughout the city.

The Beautification Committee will be focused on cleaning Lafayette Park and along the sidewalks on Lafayette Street.  Feel free just to show up and lend a hand.  All volunteers are invited to the Salem Common for a thank you pizza party at noon.

There will be recycling-themed drop-off programs at the Salem Common beginning at 10:00am.  Back by popular demand, will be the Swap 'N' Drop, where you can SWAP until noon or simply DROP OFF until 1pm the following: women's, men's and children's clothing, accessories, and small household items (please, all items in working condition).  In the event of rain, there will not be a ‘SWAP’, however you may still drop off items to donate to Goodwill.

From 10:00am to 1:00pm there will be plastic bags and rigid plastics drop-off areas, and brand new this year will be FREE on-site confidential shredding.
