5 Things to Do in Salem This Weekend

Here are five fun things to do in Salem this weekend.

1. Dogs, Chaps and Cowboy Hats: The Northeast Animal Shelter will be hosting a country-themed event this weekend. The event will feature face-painting, live DJs, and country family photos - and of course, the opportunity to adopt a pet in need of a forever home. Click Here for all the details.

2Listen to Some Live Music: As always, there are plenty of options when it comes to live music in Salem this weekend. Click Here to read a handy break-down of the various musical acts that will be playing at venues across the city, written by Salem Patch blogger Bob Broderick.

3Head Down to the New England Aquarium: Consider a trip to the New England Aquarium in Boston this weekend. Thanks to a grant from the Norman H. Read Charitable Trust, all Salem residents will be admitted into the New England Aquarium for free during the month of September. That is nearly a $100 value for most families. Click Here for all the details.

. Summer Concert Series Continues: Hailing from the Land of Rising Sun, Tokyo Tramps will be performing at Peabody Street Park from 3 to 6 p.m. The Tokyo Tramps play American music, blues and rock'n'roll. Click Here for more details about the concert.

. Try Out Salem's New Bar By the Water: Boston Harbor Cruise's new patio bar at the Salem Ferry landing is open for business. Click Here to view a photo gallery offering a look around Salem's new waterfront hangout.
