Santa Set to Arrive in Salem Friday

Here are the five things you need to know before you start you week in Salem.


Today is Monday, Dec. 2, and here are the five things you need to know before you start your week

1. You can expect it to warm up in Salem this week and there may be some passing rain showers on Tuesday. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect daily high temperatures to be in the mid-40s, possibly reaching 50 on Thursday. Overnight lows are expected be in the mid-30s. 

2. Don't forget! Santa Claus will arrive at the top of the Hawthorne Hotel at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 - with assistance from the Salem Fire Department, of course. Santa’s arrival will be followed by a short stop for cocoa and caroling at the gazebo on Salem Common. The parade will then continue to Museum Place Mall for pictures with Santa. Click Here for more information. 

3. The Salem Design Review Board will meet Wednesday night on the third floor of the City Hall Annex on Washington Street. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., according to the posted agenda.

. The Salem City Council & Public Hearing Tax Classification meeting will take place Thursday night at City Hall on Washington Street. Click Here to view the posted agenda.

5. The Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services is hosting a Breakfast With Santa at the Salem Senior Center on Broad Street Sunday from 8 to 10 a.m. Click Here for more information.
