Monday Essentials: City Council Reconvenes This Week

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your week in Salem.

Today is Monday, Sept. 9, and here are the five things you need to know

1. Aside from some wet weather on Tuesday, it should be a beautiful week in Salem. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect daily high temperatures to be in the high 60s and 70s - and Wednesday may even reach as high as 85. The overnight lows will be in the low to mid-60s.

2. The Salem City Council will gather Thursday night at City Hall on Washington Street. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. This will be the first time council members have met since July 18. Click Here to view City Council agendas and meeting minutes.

3. The Salem Licensing Board will meet tonight at the City Hall Annex on Washington Street. The meeting, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., is expected to feature a request from Ten31 Productions to set up a living statue display this fall, according to the posted agenda.

4. Don't forget! Canal Street is still closed to through traffic - and with school back in session that can translate to traffic headaches for local motorists. Click Here to view an interactive map of the Canal Street road project with up-to-the-second traffic updates.

5. The Salem Education Foundation is hosting a Salem School Committee Candidate Primary Election Forum Tuesday night at the Boys & Girls Club of Salem on Hawthorne Boulevard. The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will be open to the public.
