Haunted Happenings 2013 Kicks Off Thursday in Salem

Here are the five things you need to know before you start your week in Salem.

Today is Monday, Sept. 30, and here are the five things you need to know before you start your week in Salem

1. It is expected to be unseasonably warm in Salem this week. The National Weather Service is predicting that local residents can expect this week to be clear, with daily high temperatures in the low 70s - though it may reach as high as 80 on Wednesday. Overnight lows should be in the mid-50s.  

2. It's that time of the year again! Salem's Haunted Happenings 2013 will kick off Thursday evening with the Haunted Happenings Grand Parade. The parade is scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It will begin at Shetland Park and end at Salem Common. Click Here for all of the details. 

3. Petite Etoile, a new high-end children's boutique, will open later this week on Derby Street in Salem. The store is slated to open Tuesday morning. Click Here for a sneak peek inside downtown Salem's newest business.

4. The Salem City Council Committee of the Whole will meet at City Hall Tuesday night to discuss proposed renovations to Salem's Washington Arch at Salem Common. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Click Here for our full story. 

5. A forum entitled Salem Public Schools Turnaround: Two Years Later will be held at Bentley School tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The forum will feature addresses from Mayor Kimberley Driscoll and Superintendent Stephen Russell. Click Here to view the event flyer.
