Loud Motorcycle? Police Offer Free Noise Test, And Promise Not to Fine You

During Heritage Days, police will check your exhaust pipes to see if they're louder than the law allows.

Urban life has lots of positives — but, at least in my book, summertime motorcycle noise ain't one of them.

The Salem Police are offering a free motorcycle exhaust system check during Heritage Days on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Salem High School. The Globe has more details on the program.

Police say they won't fine riders whose exhaust pipes are louder than than the law allows, and that they'll offer tips for how to ride in a way that cuts down on noise.
