Win a Coaching session with World's Toughest Mudder and support the Boys & Girls Club

CoachUp is pleased to announce the two-time winner and current reigning World’s Toughest Mudder champion, Junyong Pak, as its next CoachUp Ambassador.

Athletes may enter for a chance to win a private coaching session with Pak by submitting an entry on the CoachUp Ambassador website, http://ambassador.coachup.com.  Each entry is a $10 donation made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem.  The winning athlete will train with Pak on October 26th right where Pak trains every day, in his hometown of Beverly at Lynch Park.  Pak and the winning athlete will train for 2 hours and participate in a video shoot for CoachUp TV, CoachUp’s YouTube channel.

Pak is a professional obstacle racer whose career has been on the rise.  He has been featured in a variety of news and sports outlet including Men’s Fitness and Runner’s World.  Pak was a former competitive runner and marathoner who discovered obstacle racing several years ago as the sport began to emerge.  He has since led the obstacle racing movement on a national level as he trains full-time for the country’s most difficult courses and competitions.

Pak is excited for the chance to work with an athlete in order to prepare him for an obstacle race.

“As an ambassador to the sport, I really enjoy these opportunities to promote the sport wherever I can and share the knowledge that I’ve garnered with athletes that are eager to learn,” Pak shared with us.

On the subject of coaching, Pak shared insight into his own training and challenges as an athlete:

“I strongly believe that the greatest value of a coach is not the workouts or training schedule that he prescribes, but rather his mere presence as an affirming figure of praise and encouragement. Knowing that someone cares and having a reason to work and fight is often times the difference between success and failure. There were many moments in my own training where the only person I could look to for motivation and accountability was myself and that was really tough. Everyone, and I mean even the best of the best, benefits from having a coach in their corner. ”

All proceeds of the program will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salem.  Pak elaborated on why he chose this particular organization for the Ambassador Program:

“Growing up I was pretty poor and didn’t have much in the way of wants. But I never went hungry, I always had a bed to sleep in and I went to a great public school that offered every opportunity to become as successful as I wanted to be …But I know that not every kid is given that chance and it would be such an honor to pass that torch on to some kids in the present if I can in any way, to help someone like my younger self achieve the same dreams and lead a healthy, fulfilling life.”

Pak is also gearing up for the 2013 World’s Toughest Mudder race (November 16-17) in New Jersey where he will attempt to defend his title and capture his third consecutive win.

CoachUp is thrilled to be working with a top-caliber athlete and ambassador.
