Boys & Girls' Club Actively Searching For New Space

Family is remaining positive , and it's thankful for the support of the community as the organization looks to the future.

"We're definitely looking at the bright side," Executive Director Joanne Scott said. "There is nothing we can do about it. We need to just move ahead."

The club has been at its current location for 25 years, according to the Salem News. The organization has served Salem for a total of 143 years, the executive director said.

Scott said the organization has already been on the hunt for a new space.

"We're looking at a number of different places both temporary and permenant," she said. "It's definitely more paramount that we do it sooner rather than later." Scott said the organization has already spoken with some landlords and the school department about possible locations.

Scott said the organization is "definitely looking toward a new facility eventually," even if that means making due in a temporary space first.

Right now, Scott said, "the most important message to get out there is really to our parents." The executive director said the Club will be accommodating its members (more than 800) this coming year. With school opening, said she wanted to make sure parents know "they can depend on the kids being here after school. They don't have to worry," she said.
