Tour the New Judicial Center [VIDEO]
The J. Michael Ruane Judicial Center opened Tuesday afternoon; take a look at the new facility here.
The $106 million dollar officially opened Tuesday afternoon on Federal Street.
Local and state dignitaries, law enforcement, employees at the courthouse and family members of the late State Rep. J. Michael Ruane and the late Honorable Samuel E. Zoll were among those present for the ceremony.
The occasion concluded with a plaque dedication to Zoll, who died last April. Zoll served as state representative, mayor of Salem and was chief justice of the Commonwealth's district court system for 28 years.
Lt. Governor Timothy P. Murray was at the ceremony. Earlier in the day, Murray visited the Salem Community Child Care Program in as well as , where he highlighted recent state investments in Salem, which he called a gateway city, specifically the recent appropriation of $420,960 in Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities grant money toward .
Salem Patch was there for the ceremony at the judicial center and had the opportunity to tour the building following the ceremony.
