Town, Police Look to Move Nearly 30 Security Cameras

They'll still be watching you, but from a different location.

Roughly half of the 29 security cameras in Salem are located on a stack at the Salem Harbor Station. The plant, including the stacks, are slated to be demolished to make room for a natural gas-fired plant, so those cameras need to be moved, reported the Salem News.

Salem police receive footage from about 14 of those cameras to its Margin Street headquarters. The city is looking to move the cameras to another high point nearby, possibly eying the Salem-Beverly Bridge, said the Salem News.

The project could cost up to $100,000, with additional money to upgrade the system.
