Pinto Kicks off At Large Campaign Thursday Night

Steven Pinto is hoping to remain on City Council for a third term.

Councilor at Large Steven Pinto is gearing up for a bid at a third term in office, and he's welcoming those who want to get to know him and his views on City issues to his kickoff celebration/fundraiser.

Residents interested in getting some face time with Pinto and learning more about his platform can catch him on the second floor of the from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

"The first two terms have just flown by," Pinto said. "It feels like I first put up lawn signs yesterday."

The councilor said he got his start on the Zoning Board of Appeals, and he is dedicated to bringing the experience he gained on that Board as well as on the Council back to the chamber if elected for a third term.

"I've got a good hold on development [issues]," Pinto said, adding that he's comfortable with zoning issues in the City.

Pinto said he believes he's the right fit for the job even though the economy is shaky and there is much going on in Salem.

"These are difficult times we're in fiscally with budget cuts and state cuts," Pinto said. Issues on his plate should he remain in office include uncertainty surrounding the loss of tax base and redevelopment questions that come with the . Pinto also mentioned the and the capital improvement plan, among others.

The councilor describes himself as fiscally conservative and passionate about the City.

"I really love representing Salem," he said. "I'm a hometown boy born and raised my whole life," Pinto added. 

"I love the City. I love the people. I love the job," he said.

Yes the fee is devotion of time and being able to stand up for what is right .
