Woman Tells Salem Police Stranger Hopped into Her Car, Refused to Leave

A woman told Salem police that a stranger hopped into her backseat to escape the rain and then refused to get out.

A local woman had an unusual run-in with a stranger Tuesday afternoon who apparently thought the backseat of her car was a good place to get out of the rain. 

At 4:50 p.m., a woman entered the Salem police station to report that a woman unknown to her had just jumped into her car and demanded a ride. 

The woman told police that she had just pulled her vehicle over on Lafayette Street during a torrential downpour when a woman suddenly jumped into her backseat and demanded a ride to Marblehead.

The woman told police the unwanted passenger kept asking for a ride to West Shore Drive in Marblehead and it took her "a few minutes" to convice the stranger to get out. 

The woman told Salem police she just wanted the incident documented.
