Woman Reports Kids on Floor of Erratic School Bus

The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Sunday and Monday.

Sunday, May 13

4:51 p.m. — An undesirable in front of was reported. Police said the man was passed out and intoxicated. Once he was woken up, he was taken into protective custody.

4:51 p.m. — Vandalism was reported on Derby Street. A business owner reported that her plants were pulled out and dirt was thrown around.

6 p.m. — A person working on a car and causing a disturbance was reported on Bridge Street.

7:20 p.m. — A possible fight was reported at Salem and Chase streets.

7:27 p.m. — Police said a suspicious person near a garage was reported on Chase Street.

7:39 p.m. — Children throwing a ball into traffic was reported at Essex and Daniels streets.

8:40 p.m. — Sexual assault was reported on Ravenna Avenue.

11:22 p.m. — Possible stolen keys were reported on Dunlap Street.

Monday, May 14

1:01 a.m. — A possibly intoxicated person in a vehicle was reported on Norman Street. Police said a vehicle was stopped on Washington Street and Victoriano Rodriguez (see below) was arrested.

3:02 a.m. — Undesirable people were reported on Norman Street.

7:28 a.m. — A loud truck was reported on Wharf Street.

7:35 a.m. — Police said phone threats were reported on Valley Street.

10:05 a.m. — Fraud was reported on Dunlap Street.

10:31 a.m. — A shoplifter was reported at Shop. An employee said he saw a woman put a few items in her purse. The woman initially denied stealing items. The items were returned to the store, and the woman was served a no trespass order.

10:58 a.m. — A lost wallet was reported on Congress Street.

11:28 a.m. — Past harassment/threats were reported on First Street. A woman said a former friend has been texting her and saying that she was the reason that he lost a former girlfriend and that it was all her fault. The man told police the woman is texting him and threatening to get the Hells Angels after him. Both people were told "to cease with the texting," police said.

11:29 a.m. — Illegal dumping was reported on Leavitt Street.

2:05 p.m. — Keys were found in flowers in front of a Crombie Street home.

2:20 p.m. — A woman on Beaver Street reported an erratic bus driver. A woman said while she was driving behind a Salem school bus "she witnessed the children on the bus standing in the middle aisle and the bus come to an abrupt stop and the children fall to the floor." Police were notified immediately, but they were not able to locate the bus. Police said the transportation company was contacted.

Monday Arrests

Brian D. Belew, 27, who is listed as homeless, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering at night with intent to commit a felony, receiving stolen property and attempting to commit a crime.

Jose M. Castro III, 24, of 45 Marianna St., in Lynn, was arrested on two warrants.

Adam E. Cochrane, who is listed as homeless in Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering at night with intent to commit a felony, receiving stolen property and attempting to commit a crime.

Victoriano A. Rodriguez, 41, of 268 Washington St., was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor.

Jessica Felice Vidal, 21, of 49 Hancock St., was arrested on a domestic assault and battery charge.
