Woman Fears Car was Shot on Congress Street

The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday, April 26

4:12 p.m. — A large group of kids forming was reported on North Street. Police said they were gone by the time they arrived.

4:42 p.m. — Police said a phone scam involving medical coverage was reported on Weatherly Drive.

4:49 p.m. — A shoplifter was reported at the 200 Essex St. . Another customer told an employee a woman was shoplifting. The woman eventually admitted to stealing $64.08 worth of merchandise, returned the items and was issued a no trespass order.

6:41 p.m. — Police said a loose German sheperd was reported on Lee Fort Terrace. Police were not able to locate the dog.

7:35 p.m. — Police received a call a car was egged while driving in the area of Liberty Hill Avenue. Police were not able to locate anything suspicious in the area.

9:14 p.m. — A Memorial Drive woman told police her neighbor's dog had been sprayed by a skunk while in her garage. The woman said her neighbor refused to retrieve his dog and appeared to be intoxicated. The man was told to pick up his dog.

Thursday, April 27

12:09 a.m. —  A loud group was reported on Pope Street.

4:58 a.m. — Police said a man sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot was reported. Police said there was no problem; the man was an employee of a nearby business.

10:36 a.m. — A vehicle possibly struck by a pellet was reported on Dow Street. Police said a woman told them she was traveling down Congress Street toward Derby Street when "she heard a shot of some type and thought someone may have shot a BB at her motor vehicle." Police said there was not damage to the inside or outside of the vehicle, she was just worried someone shot at her car. Police checked and they said there was nothing unusual in the area.

12:47 p.m. — Police said a purse stolen from a vehicle was reported on North Street. The theft happened while the woman was pumping gas, police said.

1:34 p.m. — Police received a call about an undesirable panhandling on Essex Street.

2:29 p.m. — A house was egged on Laurel Street.

2:33 p.m. — Two intoxicated men behind a Valiant Way business were reported.

3:49 p.m. — A past dispute was reported on Washington Street. A woman said she was slapped and pushed by a her friend.

Thursday Arrests

Roland Carl Nadeau, 56, who is listed as homeless in Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in the day with intent to commit a crime, trespassing and drinking in public.

Claude Eric Hernandez, 33, of 21 Salem St., was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle after a license suspension and violation of DPW rules.

Timothy Thaddius Gay, 46, who is listed as homes in Salem, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering in the day with intent to commit a crime, trespassing and drinking in public.
