Two Drunk Driving Arrests Sunday Night

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Sunday, Feb. 3

  • A vehicle was reported damaged in a hit-and-run accident on Raymond Road at 3:31 p.m.
  • A possible stalking issue was reported at TJ Maxx at 5:06 p.m. 
  • Police were called to King Street at 5:36 p.m. on report of suspicious footprints in a backyard that led from the back door to the garage. The homeowner said he/she did not know who the prints belonged to.
  • Police were called to a loud disturbance at a Highland Avenue apartment at 7:16 p.m. Police spoke to the resident, who told police nothing was wrong. 
  • Police were called to a Tremont Street residence on report of a domestic dispute at 10:03 p.m. Michael Picano, 46, of 4 Berry St. in Peabody, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery. 
  • A dispute in an apartment on Palmer Street was reported to police at 11:09 p.m.
  • Police were called to a loud party on Pope Street at 11:18 p.m.
  • A two-vehicle accident on Lafeyette and Forest Avenue at 11:46 p.m. resulted in one operator, Norman Pelletier, being arrested for operating under the influence of liquor.

Monday, Feb. 4

  • At 12:48 a.m. police pulled over a vehicle while a flat front tire. The operator, Andrey Vlassov, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of liquor and defective equipment (tire).
  • A vehicle was reported maliciously damaged on Mason Street at 7:50 a.m.
  • A sign on a Canal Street business was reported damaged at 8:34 a.m. 
  • A vehicle hit and run was reported on Jefferson Avenue at 10:04 a.m.
  • An abandoned cat was reported to police on Salem Street at 10:07 a.m. The cat was brought to Northeast Animal Shelter.
  • A stove that was removed from a home on Flint Street due to a small fire on Saturday was reported stolen (it had been on the sidewalk) at 10:23 a.m. 
  • A man on Roslyn Street reported his girlfriend had taken his car on Saturday and had not returned it as of 11:25 a.m. 
  • A dispute between neighbors on Washington Street was reported at 1:13 p.m.
  • A man reported being assaulted on Broadway at 2:59 p.m.
  • A person was reported dumping trash over the seawall on Conners Road at 4:04 p.m.
