Trash Truck Brings Down Wires

Electric wires were ripped down along Highland Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

A trash truck ripped down some electrical wires along Highland Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

The wires first came down at about 1:30 p.m. in front of Salem Wireless, across from the former Stutz Volvo dealership near Thomas Circle on the southbound side of the street.

Nobody was injured.

The Salem Fire and Police Department responded and National Grid was called to help cut the power and make repairs.

The wires were ripped from the building and repairs would have to be undertaken on Tuesday afternoon. An utility pole in the area was also struck and damage by the truck.

Traffic flow was reportedly slow, but not completely congested, on Tuesday afternoon in the area along Highland Avenue.
