Stoneham Dad Charged With OUI After Trying to Pick Up Kids From School

Police say 46-year-old father tried to pick up his two children from two separate schools in Salem while driving drunk (his second offense).

Police say a Stoneham man was intoxicated when he tried to pick up his two children from school in Salem Friday afternoon.

Thomas W. Gallant, 46, of Stoneham, was subsequently arrested on his second offense of drunk driving, according to WCVB.

Salem police responded to Kiddie Koop Child Care Center on Foster Street at 2:01 p.m. after receiving word that a man there was trying to pick up his daughter while drunk.

Police then took Gallant into custody on the OUI charge.

And about a half hour earlier, reports WCVB, Gallant had been at the Horace Mann Laboratory School over on Loring Avenue trying to pick up his older daughter.
