Shoplifter Tells Police She Sells Stolen Merchandise in the Point

The responded to the following calls on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, Nov. 30

• Police received a call about unwanted people outside of Living Well on Washington Street at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday. The woman told police customers are complaining about homeless people panhandling. The homeless people were gone on arrival.

• A wallet was found on Lafayette Street at 4:04 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the owner retrieved the wallet.

• At 4:09 p.m. Wednesday, larceny of a computer was reported on Lafayette Street.

• Shoplifters in the were reported at 4:44 p.m.  Police said the manager pointed out a man and woman walking with their kids down Derby Street. The manger said the woman walked in with an empty bag, and when she walked out, it was full. The manager said she often comes in and doesn't buy anything and she's always there with her kids. Police caught up with the woman and her children on Central Street. She told them her husband took off running. When approached, police said "she blurted out 'I have the stuff in my bag.'" Police said they took out six T-shirts from the Wax Museum and two watches from . The woman told police she "stole the merchandise so she could sell it down in the Point area." The woman admitted to doing this frequently. The items were returned and the woman and her husband will be summonsed to court.

• Teens possibly drinking alcohol on Liberty Hill Avenue were reported at 4:37 p.m. Wednesday. Police said they were unable to locate them.

• A man harassing customers on Washington Street was reported at 4:49 p.m. Wednesday.

• A fight in was reported at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Police said a woman told them she was in a verbal argument after two people refused to move out of the way while she was going down the stairs carrying a box and duffel bag. The other woman said the woman who made the complaint hit her baby carriage while her daughter was in it. Police said one of the woman's boyfriends pushed the other boyfriend, but nobody was hurt, and they were told to stay away from each other.

• Police received a call a news agency would not leave a building on Boston Street at 6:21 p.m. Wednesday. The media was gone when police arrived.

• A fake $100 bill was reported at at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday.

• At 6:52 p.m. Wednesday, police said a Boston Street resident reported news crews would not leave the area. Police said the man was upset because they were shining lights on his windows while filming. He said they knocked on the door several times. On arrival, police said the news crews were off the property and working. Police told the man they were allowed to work where they were working, and the crews were advised that the resident was getting upset.

• At 7 p.m Wednesday, police received a call that kids were putting tires in the road on Dow Street.

• At 7:28 p.m Wednesday, police received a call that a person kicked in a front door on Boston Street. Police said there was a fight involving neighbors. Police said punches were allegedly thrown and a woman was spit on after a fight that started over an argument about an open door. Police said two people will be summonsed to court.

Thursday, Dec. 1

• A counterfeit bill was reported at at 8:30 a.m Thursday.

• Police said a truck struck a sign pole on Canal Street at 9:14 a.m. Thursday.

• At 10:03 a.m Thursday, a stolen pair of socks was reported at the .

• Police said a car hit a house on Mason Street at 10:17 a.m. Thursday.

• Police were called about an intoxicated man on Derby Street at 11:45 a.m Thursday. The man was staggering and almost fell, police said. He was taken into protective custody.

• John B. Lynch, 30, of 59 Walnut St., in Peabody, was arrested on a warrant.

• Juan Carlos Sanchez, 32, of 18 Veterans Memorial Dr. in Peabody, was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle with a revoked license.
