Search Warrant Nets 60 Grams of Cocaine

An Irving Street man was charged and is being held on $50,000 cash bail.


An Irving Street man faces drug trafficking and possession charges after Salem police executed a search warrant at his residence Friday.

Police found 60 grams of cocaine and other illegal drugs in the search.

George Costa, 46, of 32 Irving St. is being held on $50,000 cash bail at the Salem Police Department, said Salem Police Det. Daniel Tucker.

Costa is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Salem District Court.

Police charged Costa with trafficking cocaine, over 36 grams; possession of a Class B substance, cocaine, with the intent to distribute; possession of a Class B substance, oxycodone, with the intent to distribute; and possession of a Class B substance, Xanax, with the intent to distribute, police said.

Det. Tucker applied for and received a search warrant after an investigation into illegal drug activity in North Salem.

The warrant was served and the search conducted at 32 Irving St. about 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24

Det. Tucker was assisted in the case by Det. Brian St. Pierre, Det. Charlene Sano and Sgt. James Page.
