A Perkins Street woman told Salem police she returned home to find an unknown man sleeping on her couch.

A Salem woman reportedly returned home Sunday afternoon to find a drunk stranger passed out on her couch.

At 4:27 p.m., a Perkins Street woman called police after allegedly finding a drunk man unknown to her sleeping on her couch. The front door, she said, was left unlocked.

Once roused, the man was found to be highly intoxicated and reportedly told police that he thought he was at a friend's house in Medford.

The man was advised that he was actually in Salem and placed into protective custody.
