Salem Store Robbery One of Two in Area Thursday

A Salem convenience store was robbed Thursday night by a man with a similar description to the robber of a Peabody store a mile away.

At about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, a man with a gun robbed Your Neighborhood Market at the corner of School and Tremont streets. The robber was described as a six-foot tall man wearing a mask.

A little more than an hour later, at 10:05 p.m, Peabody police responded to Town Variety after a man robbed the store. The suspect, described as a black male, who is 6 feet tall, who was wearing a mask, white sneakers with a black stripe, black pants and a Yankee baseball hat, showed a handgun to the clerk.

There have been no arrest in either robbery.

The Salem News reported that it was not known yet whether the two robberies are connected.
