Salem Shooting Suspect Ordered Held Without Bail

A Dorchester man was arraigned in Salem District Court Monday in connection to a home invasion on Linden Street Saturday morning.

A Dorchester man arrested in connection to a home invasion and shooting on Linden Street in Salem early Saturday morning was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Monday in Salem District Court.

Evans Timouche
, 25, of 37 Fairmount St., Dorchester, pleaded not guilty to a charge of home invasion and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

At 4:14 a.m., members of the Salem and Salem State University police departments responded to 106 Linden St. after receiving multiple calls from residents reporting gunshots in the area.

When they arrived on scene, responding officers met with a first floor resident who told them she was feeding her infant child in her bedroom when bullets ripped into her apartment - one of which ended up lodged in the wall just feet above her headboard, according to court documents.

Although no one was shot or seriously injured during the shooting, Capt. Thomas Griffin was quick to point out that it could have been far worse.

"The investigation takes on a different kind of urgency when one of the shots went into the building, ricocheted off of a window and ended up in the wall about a foot above where a woman was feeding her baby," Griffin said.

After securing the scene and transporting witnesses to station, police reportedly found four shell casings on Charles Street adjacent to the building and two more near the building's rear entrance.

Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from an altercation that occurred in a second floor apartment earlier in the night, according to court documents.

About two hours after the alleged altercation, witnesses told police Timouche and two other men returned to the house, forced the door open and fired a shot into the apartment "to settle a score," according to a police report.

Several witnesses positively identified Timouche when presented with a photo array and he was arrested in Boston early Monday morning.

Timouche is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 16.
