Salem Traffic Stop Turns Up Slapjack, Knife, Drugs

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Wednesday, July 3

  • At 10:29 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Linden Street.
  • At 10:48 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint near the intersection of Roslyn and Piedmont streets.
  • At 10:56 p.m., a Buffum Street woman called police to report that her son's bicycle was stolen out of her backyard.
  • At 10:58 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on South Pine Street.


Thursday, July 4

  • At 1:30 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Roslyn Street.
  • At 8:06 a.m., police received word that someone dumped a mattress behind Family Dollar overnight. Police are reviewing surveillance video.
  • At 3:36 p.m., police responded to a report of wires down on West Avenue.
  • At 6:54 p.m., police officers patrolling Klop Alley noticed a man toss a beer can. Kevin S. Leslie, 23, of 33 Farley Ave., Ipswich, was arrested on charges of possessing a large knife and possessing a class B substance (cocaine). Eamon P. Smyth, 22, of 79 Lathrop St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of drinking in public and littering.
  • At 7:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a couple being intimate on Clifton Avenue.
  • At 8:23 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report of a burning trash bin on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 9:15 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant near the intersection of Congress and Dow streets. Gregory D. Levesque, 24, of 2 Scenic Place, Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:15 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Derby Street. Jennifer M. Morrill, 27, of 72 Cabot St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs (opiates) and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 9:11 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Congress and Leavitt streets. Daniel J. Feeney Jr., 31, of 22 Hancock Ave., Medford, was arrested on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon (slapjack), possessing a large knife, two counts of possessing a class B substance and possessing a class E substance.
  • At 10:19 p.m., a Perkins Street woman called police to report that two Vizio TVs were stolen from her home while she was at the fireworks.

Friday, July 5

  • At 12:18 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint near the intersection of Essex and Webb streets. Justin C. Rose, 25, of 61 Ord St., Salem, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and possessing fireworks.
  • At 8:44 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at the MBTA station. Shaday J. Imadiyi, 18, of 498 Essex St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:14 p.m., police responded to a motorcycle accident near the intersection of Essex Street and Dalton Parkway.
  • At 2:35 p.m., police received word that a motor vehicle was stolen from Green Street sometime after June 17.
  • At 3:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious woman offering cleaning services on Pope Street.
Other arrest:

Amanda A. Curran, 23, of 16 Holly St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
