Salem Police Assist Kitten Found in Snowbank

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Sunday, Jan. 5

  • At 4:24 p.m., police responded to a report of a kitten stuck in a vent on First Street. A search of the area was made and a kitten was found outside on a nearby snowbank. The kitten was taken to the Northeast Animal Shelter.
  • At 5:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Mason Street.
  • At 8:27 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Gedney Court. A woman told police it appeared as though someone removed her bulkhead door to escape the snowstorm. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • At 9:33 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Bridge Street.
  • At 10:31 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Cherry Street.

Monday, Jan. 6

  • At 12:46 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lafayette Street.
  • At 1:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a fight on Essex Street.
  • At 1:15 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Hazel Street.
  • At 7:47 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Leach Street.
  • At 8:39 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lynde Street.
  • At 12:12 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault on First Street. Stacy M. Perez, 19, of 10 First St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.
  • At 2:31 p.m., an Essex Street resident called police to report that their mailbox had been found pried open.
  • At 3:01 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on New Derby Street.
