Salem Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.


The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:


Tuesday, April 2

  • At 4:11 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Washington Square South.
  • At 6:12 p.m., police responded to a report of two pit bulls attacking another dog on Parlee Street. The animal control officer was notified.
  • At 7:06 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Clifton Avenue.
  • At 8:20 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Roslyn Street.
  • At 9:15 p.m., police responded to a report of people sleeping in a motor vehicle on Heritage Drive.
  • At 10:17 p.m., police on patrol noticed a car in the Market Basket parking lot that was covered in sticky notes and shaving cream.

Wednesday, April 3

  • At 2:41 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Forest Avenue.
  • At 4:53 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Loring Avenue.
  • At 10:49 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Margin Street.
  • At 10:50 a.m., police responded to a report of stolen jewelry on Collins Street.
  • At 11:12 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lafayette Street. Angel D. Perez, 23, of 91 Chestnut St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute. Kelby A. Reynoso, 22, of 103 Memorial Park Ave., Lynn, was arrested on charges of illegally possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, illegally possessing a class E substance and for reportedly violating the city's knife ordinance. Gregory N. Gilchrist, 18, of 23 Hilda Road, Lynn, was arrested on charges of illegally possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute, illegally possessing a class E substance and for reportedly violating the city's knife ordinance.
  • At 12:15 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report of smoke in a building on Heritage Drive. The smoke was reportedly caused by a small fire on the stove.
  • At 1:02 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious package on Orne Street.
  • At 3:19 p.m., police responded to a past assault on First STreet.
  • At 3:38 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Margin and Norman streets.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Leggs Hill Road.

Other Arrest

Jamie M. Carbone, 32, of 261 Newbury St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, providing  a false name to police and for reportedly having three outstanding warrants.

Jeffrey A. Hernandez, 31, of 20 Summit St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly violating the city's knife ordinance.
