Police: Salem Man Stabbed During Alleged Home Invasion

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Saturday, March 15

  • At 4:46 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Curtis Street.
  • At 5:53 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Bridge Street. A resident reported a "small plane seen circling the area." 
  • At 6:12 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Washington Street.
  • At 6:58 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Highland Avenue. A woman will be summonsed to court on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment, second subsequent offense.
  • At 7:56 p.m., police responded to a dispute between a landlord and tenant on Salem Street.
  • At 8:28 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Margin Street. A man told police he was struck by a taxi and the driver didn't stop.
  • At 9:39 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Harbor Street.
  • At 9:53 p.m., a woman called police to report that someone threw a rock through the window of her car.
  • At 11:16 p.m., police responded to a fight in a parking lot on Boston Street.

Sunday, March 16

  • At 12:00 a.m., police responded to a break-in on Porter Street Court. A man told police an intruder broke in and stabbed him with a screwdriver. Arnoldo W. Rodriguez, 43, of 26 Lawton Ave., Lynn, was arrested on charges of home invasion, two counts of malicious destruction of property valued above $250, two counts of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (flathead screwdriver), intimidating a witness, malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
  • At 12:03 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 12:16 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Barton Square.
  • At 1:07 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Mason Street.
  • At 1:16 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Rainbow Terrace.
  • At 2:04 a.m., police responded to a loud party on Mason Street.
  • At 4:11 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pope Street.
  • At 9:53 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on North Street.
  • At 11:30 a.m., police and fire units responded to an odor of smoke on Fort Avenue.
  • At 12:18 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Washington Street.
  • At 12:30 p.m., police responded to a past hit-and-run motor vehicle accident near the intersection of North Street and Northend Avenue.
  • At 1:59 p.m., police responded to a past hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on New Derby Street.
