Salem Traffic Stop Turns Up Illegal Firearm, Ammunition

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Wednesday, Nov. 20

  • At 7:03 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Margin Street.
  • At 7:29 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Harbor Street. Gary Ulloa-Valdez, 39, of 1 Cherry St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:29 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman screaming on Cedar Street.
  • At 10:38 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Lafayette Street.

Thursday, Nov. 21

  • At 12:41 a.m., an employee at The Lobster Shanty called police to report that $180 worth of cans were stolen from an area near the restaurant.
  • At 1:05 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lafayette Street. Dashawn Mosley, 23, of 29 Park St., Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, possessing an unregistered firearm, subsequent offense, unlawful possession of ammunition (28 9MM rounds), providing a false name to police and resisting arrest.
  • At 10:00 a.m., police made an arrest on Briggs Street. Laura M. Lewin, 29, of 12 Briggs St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having three outstanding warrants.
  • At 10:40 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Barton Square.
  • At 12:19 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Cedarview Street.
  • At 2:59 p.m., police responded to a report of kids smoking on the tracks near Lawrence Street.
